I don’t often write emails about people running for elected office, but I’d like to tell you about my friend, Justin Fareed.

He’s creating quite a positive buzz here in my hometown of Santa Barbara. I’m sure you’re hearing the same thing where you are on the Central Coast.

He’s a leader. He’s a listener. He takes action. Plain and simple.

As a business owner, I’ve had to be a leader from the start of my career and can see the qualities in Justin that will make him an incredible Congressman for our communities.

It’s those qualities, frankly, that got him endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Business, National Association of Women Business Owners, among many others!

Justin keenly understands the needs of small business owners and will work to ensure that they continue to be heard in Congress.

WHERE WAS SALUD?

Whether it’s working to prevent devastating wildfires or ensuring Central Coast residents receive the help they need after a disaster, Salud Carbajal sides with Washington politicians instead of our community.

Experts say “mismanaged, overcrowded” national forests have put millions of Californians at risk, yet Salud voted AGAINST both the Electricity Reliability and Forest Protection Act and the Resilient Federal Forests Act, which could have protected thousands of communities from wildfires by allowing for common-sense prevention measures like controlled burns, grazing, vegetation thinning, and the creation of fire lines.

Then, in the midst of the Thomas Fire, when federal funding for disaster relief was on the line, Salud Carbajal played politics and voted AGAINST bringing the funding to the House floor.

This community that we love and call home needs a strong, unwavering practical voice in Washington. Justin will be a fighter in our time of need—not someone who puts politics over people.

I want to take a moment out of your day to let you all know why I am personally supporting Justin Fareed as our next Congressman for the 24th District.

We see politicians across our country putting the needs of special interests ABOVE people like you and me.

The devastation that happened with the Thomas fire and the mudslides could have been mitigated or prevented if we had elected officials with common sense representing us.

Justin is a third-generation cattle rancher, and he understands the importance of environmental stewardship and land management policies based on common sense.

Congressman Salud Carbajal voted against practical policies that could have reduced the threat to private property and the lives lost in Montecito. This is bad policy acumen and poor leadership.

We have the chance to get rid of Carbajal and elect a true representative to Congress.

Justin Fareed is someone we know is going to lead and be proactive, instead of reactive when it comes to common sense policy solutions like land management and water infrastructure.

I don’t know who prepped Salud Carbajal for last weekend’s debate, but it’s clear his debate coach had one tip:

“Don’t worry about substance, facts or your record. If you call Justin Fareed a ‘Liar’ over and over again… those things won’t matter.”

And that’s exactly what he did. And it failed miserably.

He never answered for his record on sticking up for criminal fugitives and standing against our brave law enforcement officers.

He tried to minimize his role in the closure of Diablo Canyon and his failure to provide solutions for the families impacted.

He failed to provide solutions and explain his bad votes to prevent wildfires like range management, controlled burns and vegetation thinning.

Issue after issue, vote after vote—when called to task for his lack of leadership and presented with the facts, Salud Carbajal did nothing but call me a liar.
